The Project

More Than Just Printing a Label.

For U Supply supported a Western Australian winery with the production of custom wine labels, coordinating the process from specification review and material selection through to printing, finishing and production inspection.

Premium wine labels involve more than artwork and print. Material selection, registration accuracy, finishing, colour consistency and production control can all influence the appearance of the finished bottle.

Our role was to manage these production details with the manufacturer while providing the winery with one local point of contact in Western Australia.

What We Managed

From Specification to Production

A structured procurement process helps turn an approved design into a repeatable manufacturing outcome.

01

Material Selection

Reviewing label stock and substrate suitability for the required appearance and production process.

02

Print & Finishing

Coordinating artwork registration, detailed printing and specialist finishing requirements.

03

Production Coordination

Working directly with the manufacturer during setup and throughout the production run.

04

Quality Inspection

Reviewing production output before finished labels are released for shipment.

01 · Material

Starting With the Right Label Stock

Quality begins before printing. The label substrate needs to deliver the required appearance while remaining suitable for printing, finishing and final application.

Material review Label stock and surface characteristics reviewed before production.
Production compatibility Material considered alongside the required printing and finishing processes.
Batch consistency Production material checked to support consistency across the print run.
Wine label printing plate and production setup inspection
02 · Print Setup

Preparing the Production Process

Detailed wine-label artwork requires the production setup to be carefully coordinated before the full run proceeds.

Artwork positioning Production setup checked against the approved artwork.
Registration Alignment between printed and finishing elements reviewed.
Production preparation Print setup reviewed before progressing through full-scale manufacturing.
Custom wine label material running through production equipment
03 · Production

Managing the Print Run

Once production begins, communication between the manufacturer and the procurement team remains important to keep the job aligned with the approved requirements.

Production monitoring Manufacturing progress reviewed as the label run proceeds.
Specification control Output checked against approved production requirements.
Factory communication Issues and questions can be addressed directly during production.
04 · Finishing

Premium Details Need Precise Execution.

Metallic and detailed finishing can quickly reveal production inconsistencies. The finished labels are therefore reviewed for visual alignment, definition and overall presentation.

05 · Production Quality Control

Checking Quality During Production

Quality control does not need to wait until production is finished. Output can be reviewed during the print run for consistency, registration, finishing and overall presentation.

In-line inspection Printed labels reviewed during the production process.
Print consistency Visual output compared against the approved production requirements.
Early issue identification Potential issues can be identified before the production run is completed.
Our Procurement Process
